Lent

Lent

Lent, the 40 days of preparation leading up to Easter, begins on Wednesday, February 14 (or Valentine’s, as Tish Harrison Warren notes) this year (2024). Here are a few suggestions of resources you can use if you’re wishing to observe Lent and prepare your hearts for Easter:

MB Seminary offers a daily Lenten reflection that is delivered to your inbox. These short readings are written by a variety of MB leaders from across Canada. Sign up to receive the daily reading during the seasons of Easter and Advent.

A Just Passion, last year’s book club book, has one short reading, breath prayer or Scripture from the First Nations New Testament translation for each day of Lent. The diverse contributors to this collection focus on lament, repentance and how the suffering of Jesus leads to freedom and justice for all.

Lent: The Season of Repentance and Renewal by Esau McCauley, is a short book that delves into the meaning of Lent. We are invited in this season to focus on turning away from our sins and toward the mercy and grace of Christ.
