What is Bridges?
Bridges is a food bank program at Glencairn Church which provides non-perishable and fresh produce for free to meet the growing needs of our community. The Bridges Centre is a member of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
When is it open?
The Bridges Centre is open from 9 AM to 1 PM, by appointment only, on the second and fourth Saturday of the month (except December when it is only open on the second Saturday). Each family group can visit the program once per month.
How do I request an appointment?
You can send an e-mail message or leave a voice message with your contact information and a preferred appointment time:
- E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your name
- Or, call 519-579-8741 ext. 4 and leave a message with your name and phone number
The volunteer team will review messages as quickly as possible and respond to confirm an appointment time with you. Bookings will only start 12 days before the first opening of each month.
When you visit to pick up food, please continue to wear a mask and bring reusable shopping bags. If you are unable or prefer not to wear a mask, we will meet you at our front door and provide an alternate food selection and pick-up method.
Can’t wait and need food more urgently? Please visit thefoodbank.ca/vitalservice or call 519-743-5576 ext. 340.
Where is it?
Bridges at Glencairn Church can be reached by bus routes #3 Ottawa, #12 Fairview, or #201 Conestoga. The church is a 15-minute walk from the Forest Glen terminal.
