Overview:  Target is high school students, or recently graduated, to contribute to the children’s and outreach ministries at Glencairn while experiencing leadership development.

Responsibilities

Sr High Youth Ministry (5 hrs)

  • plan, prepare and lead games/activities
  • connect with youth and develop relationships
  • prepare and manage advertisement for youth and parents

Vacation Bible Camp (20 hrs in July)

  • working with Leadership Team in developing program
  • help plan and organize event for 100 children in the community for a week of fun and inspiring activities
  • help setup event, including decorations, snacks and organizing groups
  • involved in leading and teaching

Children’s Ministry (5 hrs)

  • organizing and teaching children’s summer program on Sundays
  • working with other leaders/helpers to plan and run program
  • organizing snacks, games, crafts, setup and cleanup

Bridges (5 hrs)

  • participate in bi-monthly food and clothing bank for families in need
  • collecting and sorting food on shelves, and help with distribution

Administration (5-10 hrs)

  • support church’s Administrator to accomplish tasks such as website development, database communication, and registration

Other Tasks (5-10 hrs)

  • depending on interests and need, other tasks could be considered that would support different Church Ministries
  • possible support with Church in Community and large events

Skills & Experience

Education:          None required
Experience:        Preferable volunteer experience

Qualifications

  • Born again, baptized believer
  • Must embrace the Confession of Faith of the Mennonite Brethren Church
  • Experience working with children and youth in a ministry context
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and teams of volunteers
  • Experience in helping organizing events
  • Open and willing to learn

Compensation

Payment:            Hourly wage
Benefits               30 hours per week at $14 per hour

Youth Leader Intern

We are currently looking for a part-time Youth Leader Intern. Position begins September 3, 2019.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to Family Ministries Pastor for planning, promoting, and implementing church programs for Senior Youth (Gr 9-12)
  • Work with Volunteer Youth Leaders and pastor to plan, develop and implement as well as evaluate programs for youth (recreation, fellowship, Bible Study, discipleship training, leadership training, youth retreat, mission action and outreach events).
  • Ensure Plan to Protect Policy is observed at all youth ministry settings.
  • Keep records of all youth participation and manage youth ministry budget.
  • Communicate effectively with church staff, leadership, parents, youth and congregation (email, website, bulletin inserts, social media, powerpoint presentations).
  • Provide Christian guidance to meet special needs of youth and their parents. Make yourself available to youth outside of planned youth program to build relationships.

Job Description

The Youth Leader Intern will be responsible for leading the Sr Youth Ministry under the guidance of our Family Ministries Pastor.  There will be opportunity to grow and learn in this Pastoral role and as a leader.  The intern will be responsible to introduce youth to Christ, disciple them and train them to serve God with their lives while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.
