Connecting to Care

Connecting to Care

As the days of lockdown continue, we’ve put together some ideas to help us stay connected to each other as a church family and with those in the community.

Ideas For Individuals and Families

  • Arrange a physically distant walk or porch visit. Please respect and follow local and provincial guidelines when doing so.
  • Go through the church directory and pray for each person or family. Call, text, or email a different person each week. Tell them what you appreciate about them and listen to how they’re doing.
  • Pray for your neighbours as you walk around the block. Ask God to protect their health, their finances, and their families and to draw them to himself.
  • Host a virtual games night with your neighbours or plan one with your life group and invite some friends or family members. Here are some free versions of games available for playing online.
  • Invite a group to watch sports together on a video call. Invite some friends and neighbours.
  • Invite a neighbour or family to share a virtual meal over a video call.
  • Drop off a card, a snack, or meal for a family in need, a neighbour, or someone who is single, a senior, or a family with young kids
  • Join Glencairn’s private Facebook group and share your experiences and comment on other people’s photos and stories.
  • Connect with your neighbours on NextDoor—a free platform that enables you to connect with people in your neighbourhood and your surrounding area without giving out your personal information
  • Donate to the Food Bank, Ray of Hope Community Centre, House of Friendship or another agency serving local people in need.
  • Donate to Mennonite Central Committee or another agency serving people in poverty globally.

We are also looking for individuals, life groups or ministry teams who might be willing to lead a church-wide games night, faith discussion, share a hobby night, prayer time, or other larger online event. Contact Pastor Richard or the church office if you can help.
